Kitson Repeats As BIG EAST Goalkeeper Of The Week

QUEENS, N.Y. - For the second week in a row and the third time this season, redshirt senior Neal Kitson has been named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week. Kitson posted two shutouts in a 1-0-1 week for St. John's (6-0-2, 1-0-1).
Against No. 3 Notre Dame on Friday, Kitson set a new career-high with 11 saves in a 0-0 draw. The keeper added five saves on Sunday in a 1-0 double-overtime victory against Marquette. On the season Kitson is 6-0-1 and has posted seven shutouts.
Kitson also broke a school-record by extending his scoreless streak, dating back to last season, to 742:01. The previous school-record was 674:13 set in 2006 by Jason Landers.
The redshirt senior currently ranks first in the BIG EAST with seven shutouts and 35 saves. Kitson is also tied for first in the BIG EAST with a 0.00 goals against average and a 1.000 save percentage. As a team, St. John's ranks first in shutouts (seven) and goals against average (0.12).
For his efforts over the weekend, Kitson was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week and earned men's college player of the week honors from BigAppleSoccer.com.
