QUEENS, N.Y. - Head Coach Norm Roberts
Opening statement
"They made some shots at the end and played the whole game. Stony Brook is a good team that will do very well in their league. D.J. Kennedy did a great job coming out in the second half. Justin Brownlee gave us very good minutes and rebounded the ball well."
On staying focused against Stony Brook
"We never talked about Duke, just like we never talk about an upcoming opponent. We focus on the one game at hand and then we move on."
On facing Duke this weekend
"We needed to defend all the way to the end. Your best players need to play well and you have to compete on every play. We need to take advantage of our opportunities and limit easy baskets."
On the upcoming opportunity against Duke
"This is a great opportunity for us to play a great team. We have to make the best of it and lay it all on the line in a team way. We can't win with one guy. It has to be all 12 guys and we need to pay as hard as we can."
Junior Forward Sean Evans
On his performance against Stony Brook
"Our guards know we can score inside. Today they were looking for me a little bit more and I took advantage of my opportunities."
On the game plan against Duke this weekend
"Every game is different. Every game has a different atmosphere. We need to play hard the whole game at Duke and take advantage of our chances at all times and limit mistakes."
Junior Guard D. J. Kennedy
On being undefeated so far this season
"It's great to be 6-0. We are taking it one game at a time and not looking forward or back. Every game we are looking for the "W" and look to the next team."
On the keys to competing in Durham, N.C. on Saturday
DJ- Every night is different. We have to limit our turnovers and capitalize on every one of their mistakes. Duke is a great team and they will come prepared."
On the aggressive play against Stony Brook
"I am too focused to worry about anything else. I want to win every game. I am not going to let anything take my mind off of the game."
Head Coach Steve Pikiell
Opening Statement:
"St. John's is a good team; they do a good job and have veteran players who hit their shots. They're bigger than us and have a lot of athletic players. Those guys are veterans and they did what they were supposed to do to win. In order for us to compete in a game like this, we have to make shots. If you don't make shots, you don't win."
On Defensive Game Plan:
"I thought we had a good game plan defensively. We had one day to prepare. St. John's is a tough team; I wish I could have mixed it up more. It wasn't defense that was the problem. I thought we had a decent package but they were just a little bigger and they got second chance shots early which really hurt us."
