- Justin Burrell scored the first points of the game with a jumper at 19:38.
- The Red Storm opened the game on a 6-0 run.
- Sean Evans accounted for seven of the Red Storm's opening 13 points.
- Two milestones happened on the same play for STJ: Malik Boothe tallied his 200th-career assist at the 15:10 mark when Evans scored his 500th-career point on a layup.
- Evans led all players at the half with nine points, and added four rebounds.
- St. John's opened the second half on a 7-3 run.
- D.J. Kennedy hit consecutive 3-pointers to spark a 10-0 run that brought STJ within four, 54-50, at 10:08.
- Kennedy scored all of his 18 points in the second half, and just missed out on a double-double with a career-high nine assists. The contest was his seventh double-digit scoring effort of the year.
- Evans finished the game with a season-high 17 points. The game also was the third double-digit scoring contest of the year for the junior.
