Ballo Jr. Paces St. John's At Spring Break Championship

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's golf team (55-over 907) finished 14th at the Spring Break Championship in Delray Beach, Fla. The three-round event was held at the par-71 Championship Course at the Gleneagles Country Club and hosted by Ohio State.
Junior co-captain Mike Ballo Jr. led the Red Storm with a 5-over 218 and finished tied for 14th overall. Ballo Jr. carded second and third round scores of 70 and 71 to move from 23rd to 14th.
Senior Kevin Velardo finished tied for 33rd overall with a 9-over 222, moving up six spots with second and third round scores of 71 and 73. Sophomore Mark Costanza carded a 72 in the first round and finished with a 14-over 227.
Head coach Frank Darby and the St. John's men's golf team is back in action on April 3-5, when the team competes in the Pirate Invitational at the Ironwood Country Club in Greenville, N.C. The three-day event is hosted by East Carolina.
