Velardo Leads St. John's At Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's golf team (53-over 917) finished 13th at the Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C. this past weekend. The three-round event was held at the par-72 Ironwood Country Club and hosted by East Carolina.
Senior Kevin Velardo led the Red Storm with a 5-over 221 and finished 13th overall. Velardo posted round scores of 76, 70 and 71.
Sophomore transfer Mark Costanza was second on the Red Storm with an 11-over 227 and tied for 31st overall. Junior co-captain Mike Ballo Jr. was third for St. John's with a 14-over 230 to tie for 48th overall.
Head coach Frank Darby and the St. John's men's golf squad has one more tournament on April 10-11, when the team competes in the Princeton Invitational at the Springdale Golf Course in Princeton, N.J., before the BIG EAST Championship on April 19-21.
