Men's Golf Heads To Princeton To Defend Titles

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's golf team heads to Princeton, N.J., this weekend to compete in the annual Princeton Invitational. The team took the overall title last year and co-captain Evan Beirne tied with alumnus Keegan Bradley for the overall title.
Bradley and Beirne both posted a 2-under 211 to lead the Red Storm to a 17-over 869 victory a season ago, while senior Kevin Velardo finished tied for 27th with a 10-over 223. Junior co-captain Mike Ballo Jr. did not compete last season due to a shoulder injury.
Senior Casey Calmi and sophomore transfer Mark Costanza round out the expected starting five for St. John's this weekend.
Princeton hosts the tournament from April 11-12 at the par-71, 6,390-yard Springdale Golf Club. It will be a three round event with two on Saturday and one Sunday. The 14 team field includes: Columbia, Connecticut, Cornell, George Mason, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Rider, Rutgers, St. Bonaventure, St. John's, St. Joseph's, Towson and Yale.
