St. John's Head Coach Chris Mullin...
On the team's performance:
"We played good defense. They run some really nice sets and make you play late into the shot clock so I thought we did a really good job, [but] we just couldn't get the ball. It was amazing. I've never seen so many balls pop out of guy's hands and hit guys in the head...The last seven we played a little better...They shot 30 percent, we shot 34 [percent]. We had nine assists and 15 turnovers. It was ugly. For the most part, if we play defense like that we're going to be good. Those offensive rebounds deflated everything."
On getting the team to play a full-40 minutes:
"We probably took a step back. To develop team chemistry and trust, it takes going through this stuff, flushing it out and working through it. As frustrating as it is that's usually what makes a team. If you can get through it together. No one likes to lose and play terrible but usually when you look back that is what turns a team into a team. We're off tomorrow [so] I told them to reflect, look at yourselves in the mirror and recommit to helping each other."
