QUEENS, N.Y. -
The Ballpark at St. John's, home of Red Storm baseball, will be one of 16 stadiums featured when the new MVP 06 NCAA Baseball video game is released in March 2006. The collegiate baseball game, the first of its kind, is produced by Electronic Arts and will include 128 universities from 14 major Division I conferences.
St. John's and the BIG EAST are part of that group, and users will get a chance to not only play as the Red Storm, but on a recreated St. John's Queens campus. Through correspondence with the university, EA Sports was able to duplicate The Ballpark and all of its surrounding area.
St. John's-specific screenshots are available at the top of this release, and a stadium tour is available by logging on to the IGN Sports website.
The Ballpark at St. John's will see real life action for the first time this spring on March 18, when Quinnipiac comes to town for a three-game series. The Red Storm plays two more non-conference home games against Albany (March 22) and Columbia (March 28), before welcoming Georgetown for its first home conference series (March 31-April 2).
St. John's, the defending BIG EAST regular season champions, opens its season on the road, beginning with a three-game set at Texas Tech from Feb. 17-19. The Red Storm will stay in Texas for The Crowne Plaza/Rice Invitational from Feb. 24-26, with games against perennial powers Rice, Texas State and Nebraska.
