![]() Combining cutting-edge digital technology with crews of New York City television professionals and Red Storm undergraduate students, St. John's University Athletics has already earned high marks with its nine-year old video production arm.
SJU-TV is responsible for all in-house video efforts including but not limited to feature content, pre-produced marketing videos, team intro videos and live events. SJU-TV has produced live events for local regional sports network, SNY, as well as national outlets, such as FOX Sports Go, ESPN3, and CBS Sports Networks. SJU-TV has produced hundreds of live events since the beginning of the 2012-13 season, including more than 300 that were carried live in H.D.-quality to more than 90 million homes on ESPN3 and FOX Sports GO. Over the last few years, SJU-TV has provided fans with more on-demand content than ever before producing the Red Storm Report, a half-hour magazine style show that allows Red Storm fans to go behind the scenes and follow the latest St. John's storylines during the season. SJU-TV continues to produce daily web content for RedStormSports.com including daily webisodes, "Taking Europe by Storm" chronicled the pre-season Europe trips take by the men's and women's basketball teams, in 2013 and 2014 respectively. Sports fans throughout the country that receive their Internet or video subscription from an affiliated service provider can catch most of the Red Storm's varsity teams in action on ESPN3 throughout the 2016-17 season. In the past, SJU-TV has produced live events for men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's fencing, baseball, softball, women's track/field and lacrosse carried live in H.D.-quality on ESPN3. "We are fortunate to once again have this many games available on ESPN3," said Associate Athletic Director Dr. Dave Masur. "It is an excellent source of exposure and makes it easy for our fans and alumni to follow us throughout the season."
SJU-TV games are called by professional announcers, many of whom have longstanding ties to St. John's University and the New York area. Eamon McAnaney, Jon Yardley and former St. John's backcourt standout Tarik Turner anchor SJU-TV men's basketball coverage, while Ralph Bednarczyk and former Dowling College coach Scott Greene bring fans each women's basketball home game. Sportscaster Siddique Farooqi, long-time New York Institute of Technology head baseball coach Bob Hirshfield, assistant coach for the New York Cosmos Alecko Eskandarian, former professional soccer player Norm Wingert, MLSsoccer.com contributor David Gass and New York Daily News reporter Frank Isola.
