St. John's and BIG EAST to Host 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball East Regional at MSG

Nov. 17, 2014 QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's University and the BIG EAST Conference will serve as hosts for the 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball East Regional at Madison Square Garden announced Monday by the NCAA Selection Committee. Games are scheduled for March 24 and 26 at "The World's Most Famous Arena", the home court of the Red Storm and site of the BIG EAST Tournament since 1983.
It will be the second time in four years that the road to the Final Four runs through The Garden. Madison Square Garden will again be the last stop for one team headed to Metro Phoenix to compete for a national title at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
After a 53-year hiatus, the NCAA Tournament returned to Madison Square Garden in 2014 for the East Regional, which was also hosted by St. John's and the BIG EAST. Two sellout crowds packed the famed arena for the first NCAA Tournament games at MSG since 1961. The first semifinal of the 2017 East Regional will be the 75th NCAA Tournament game held at Madison Square Garden.
