Kadaja Bailey Honored with Martin Luther King Jr, Community Achievement Award in Long Beach

Former Red Storm player was honored at a ceremony on Monday
LONG BEACH, N.Y.– Former St. John's women's basketball standout Kadaja Bailey was honored with the 2024 Martin Luther King Jr. Community Achievement Award on Monday.
The former five-year guard for the Red Storm was presented with the award by the MLK Inc. Community Center in her hometown of Long Beach, N.Y. at a ceremony in recognition of her positive impact on the center and the overall community.
Bailey volunteers her time mentoring local youth in the community and assisting at the community center. The MLK Center is a community-based organization that aims at improving the health, human welfare and educational attainment for Long Beach residents.
During her time as a player in Queens, Bailey made her mark as the local product play five seasons for the Johnnies. The guard ranks top-10 all-time in scoring logging 1,456 points and sixth in program history in career free throw percentage shooting at a 78.7 percent clip. Bailey played the most games ever by a Red Storm men's or women's basketball player making 146 appearances. In her final year in 2022-23, she was an All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention and All-MET selection helping guide the team to a 23-9 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
