Marty Higgins Named to Second-Straight BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

The Johnnies’ first baseman tallied six RBIs in the team’s series win at Xavier
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off a road series win against Xavier, graduate infielder Marty Higgins earned a BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection for the second straight week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
The Johnnies' first baseman registered 33.3 percent of the Red Storm's run production over the weekend, driving in six of the squad's 18 total tallies. Higgins unloaded three RBIs to put the game out of reach in Saturday's 9-3 victory. The Nutley, N.J., native followed up with a decisive two-run homer the following day before finishing with three RBIs in a 6-3 win on Sunday afternoon.
Since cracking the starting lineup against UConn on April 13, Higgins has been instrumental to the Red Storm's offense. His 14 RBIs over the last 10 games top the squad while his .361 batting average and 13 hits trail only left fielder Garrett Scavelli.
The Johnnies will return to the friendly confines of Jack Kaiser Stadium when Iona comes to town on Wednesday. First pitch from Queens is slated for 6 p.m.
