Sharp tallied the equalizer in the draw against No. 2 Marshall
NEW YORK – The St. John's men's soccer senior Jeremy Sharp was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor after tallying the equalizer in Friday night's draw against No. 2 Marshall.
Sharp netted his first goal in nearly two years in 72nd minute directly after the Red Storm went a man-up to tie the game, 1-1, off an assist against Igor Goncalves. Following a set piece that bounced out of the box and was redirected by Goncalves, the defenseman delivered a screamer of a line drive into the bottom corner of the twine, leading the Red Storm to its highest ranked result in nearly 18 years.
Sharp, a Michigan State transfer recorded the second goal of his collegiate career and first since his goal against Wisconsin on Oct. 6, 2023. The Roseville, Mich., native has logged three points (one goal, one assist) so far this season. Over the course of his career, he has tallied 13 total points. The senior has appeared in all five matches making four starts.
Sharp becomes the third St. John's player to be honored by the conference this season. Guilherme Gomes was named BIG EAST Offensive Player and Freshmen of the Week and Alec McLachlan was tabbed goalkeeper of the week on Sept. 2.
Sharp and the Red Storm will be back in action tonight at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium when it meets Rhode Island at 7 p.m.
