NEW YORK - Team Notes

St. John's snapped a five-game losing streak to Pittsburgh, defeating the Panthers for the first time since a 55-50 win on Jan. 21, 2006. The Red Storm is 17-6 against Pitt all-time at home.
The Red Storm has now racked up five wins against ranked opposition, the most since recording six Top 25 wins in 1999-00.
The Red Storm is 7-1 this year at Madison Square Garden, a mark that includes wins against No. 13/13 Georgetown, No.9/11 Notre Dame, No. 3/3 Duke, and No. 10/9 Connecticut.
St. John's, which trailed by one point at halftime, improved to 5-6 when trailing at the break.
St. John's improved to 7-4 in games decided by five points or less.
The Red Storm was even with Pitt on the glass, 31-31. Pitt entered the contest with an average rebounding margin of +12.0.
St. John's limited Brad Wanamaker and Gilbert Brown to a combined nine points. The duo entered the contest averaging a combined 23.7 points.
Individual Notes
Held to six points in the first half, Dwight Hardy finished with a team-high 19 points. Hardy made just one 3-pointer, snapping a stretch of four-straight multi-trey contests.
One game after posting his 10th career double-double with a 10-point, 12-rebound effort, Justin Burrell had 15 points and eight rebounds. Burrell is averaging 12.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in the past two contests. The senior also now sits at 978 points for his career.
Pittsburgh native D.J. Kennedy scored 11 points to reach double-figures for the 75th time in his career.
Malik Boothe recorded his fourth-straight game with at least four assists. In that stretch, Boothe has dished out 18 assists and has had just four turnovers.
Paris Horne was held scoreless for just the second time this season, but had three rebounds and two assists.
