JaKarr Sampson Signs Two-Year Deal With Denver Nuggets

QUEENS, N.Y. – Former BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and St. John’s standout JaKarr Sampson has signed a two-year deal with the Denver Nuggets, as announced Monday by the organization.
In 47 games this season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Sampson has averaged 5.1 points and 2.7 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game. As a rookie last season with the 76ers, Sampson saw action in 74 games, averaging 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15.3 minutes.
Another former BIG EAST Rookie of the Year from St. John’s, Maurice Harkless has averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game in his first season with the Portland Trailblazers.
Drafted 15th overall by Philadelphia in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft, Harkless was traded to Orlando and spent the first three seasons of his NBA career with the Magic. The fourth-year NBA veteran has averaged 6.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in 21.7 minutes, while shooting 46.0 percent from the floor. Harkless has added 1.0 steal, 0.8 assists and 0.6 blocks in 255 career games.
