“The Dominican Dream” 30 for 30 on Felipe Lopez Premieres Tonight

Documentary on career of St. John’s legend Felipe Lopez to debut at 9 p.m. on ESPN
QUEENS, N.Y. – ESPN's latest documentary in the 30 for 30 series, "The Dominican Dream," will premiere tonight at 9 p.m., detailing the life and career of St. John's legend Felipe Lopez.
Lopez, who immigrated to New York from the Dominican Republic as a boy, starred at St. John's from 1994-98 and currently sits fourth on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,927 points.
A star at Harlem's Rice High School, Lopez was a household name before ever donning a St. John's uniform. The consensus number one high school recruit in the nation in a class that included the likes of Allen Iverson, Lopez graced the cover of Sports Illustrated prior to ever playing a college game.
The documentary will detail Lopez's journey from a young boy in the Dominican Republic, to prep school standout whose games drew capacity crowds, to his career at St. John's to his tenure in the NBA and beyond.
Lopez has done plenty to give back to the community since his retirement, starting the Felipe Lopez Foundation to help children in underserved communities and taking on a role as an ambassador with NBA Cares.
