The Johnnies rallied behind junior co-captain Zuby Ejiofor, who scored 19 of his 27 points in the second half while shooting 9-for-11 from the field with a 3-pointer. The 6-foot-9 product from Garland, Texas, also grabbed 13 boards with 10 coming on the offensive glass in 33 minutes of action.
St. John's junior wing RJ Luis Jr. posted 22 points on 6-of-9 shooting with a pair of triples and eight made free throws in the win at Rutgers. The Miami, Fla., native finished with six rebounds and three assists. Sophomore guard Simeon Wilcher also broke out with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes of work.
The Red Storm welcomes eight talented newcomers for the 2024-25 campaign, including Kadary Richmond and Deivon Smith who were both named to Preseason All-BIG EAST Teams on Wednesday.
