Baseball and Women’s Golf Earn BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Awards

Women’s golf posted second-highest GPA of any team; BIG EAST Champion baseball program earns award for the eighth time
NEW YORK– The St. John's baseball and women's golf teams earned the 2023-24 BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award, the conference announced on Thursday.
The award was given to the team with the highest cumulative GPA of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster for the 2023-24 school year in each conference sponsored sport.
The women's golf program recorded a 3.855 GPA, the second-highest among any BIG EAST athletic program only trailing the DePaul women's tennis team (3.896). Head Coach Ambry Bishop-Santillo's squad earned the accolade for the fourth time in the last six years.
No stranger to excellence in the classroom, the Red Storm were ranked 12th in the country in the Women's Golf Coaches' Association (WGCA) All-Scholar Team Rankings. All seven players were tabbed WGCA Scholar All-Americans, the first time since 2021 the entire roster garnered recognition.
The 2024 BIG EAST Tournament Champions shined on the diamond and in the classroom with a 3.46 GPA. It also marks the eighth time the program has been the conference's top academic team in baseball and the second under Head Coach Mike Hampton.
