St. John’s Rick Pitino to Join WFAN’s Boomer & Gio Show on Thursday Morning

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and 2024-25 National Coach of the Year will be in studio for a live interview at 8 a.m.; CBS Sports Network will carry the live simulcast
QUEENS, N.Y. – Red Storm Men's Basketball Head Coach Rick Pitino will join WFAN's "Boomer & Gio Show" on Thursday at 8 a.m. in advance of No. 5/6 St. John's clash with No. 15/16 Alabama on Saturday at 12 p.m. inside Madison Square Garden.
Pitino will join morning talk show hosts Gregg Giannotti and four-time NFL Pro Bowler and former NFL Most Valuable Player Boomer Esiason to talk St. John's hoops. Fans can tune in online here or on the radio dial at channels 101.9 FM and 660 AM. The interview will additionally be simulcast on CBS Sports Network.
The Red Storm opened the season on Monday with a 108-74 rout of Quinnipiac at a sold-out Carnesecca Arena. The Johnnies point total marked the program's highest since they scored 119 in a season opening victory over Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 9, 2021. Dillon Mitchell led five Johnnies in double-figures with 18 points.
Pitino, now in his third year at the helm in Queens, captured three of the four major national coach of the year awards in 2024-25. St. John's took home the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championships last season and earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, its highest in 25 years.
The Red Storm were ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press poll and No. 6 in the USA Today Coaches poll to start the year, which marked the highest preseason placements in program history.
The Johnnies will play their first of 12 regular season games at The World's Most Famous Arena on Saturday afternoon, when they welcome the Crimson Tide to MSG for the first time since 1955. Madison Square Garden Ticket Plans and single-game tickets for Saturday's game are still available.
