Monique McLean Featured On Inside The BIG EAST

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's women's basketball player Monique McLean is being featured on this week's Inside The BIG EAST show, airing nationally on ESPNU Friday at 7 p.m., and locally on SportsNet New York on Friday at 12:30 a.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.
Inside The BIG EAST's profile on McLean highlights her season accomplishments, the impact she has made on the team and her career as one of the top players to come though the program. Teammates Joy McCorvey and Da'Shena Stevens, and head coach Kim Barnes Arico are featured in McLean's profile, providing additional commentary on her contributions.
McLean is closing out her career by putting up some impressive numbers. The senior leads the team and is ranked No. 23 nationally in scoring with 19.0 points per game. In addition to being STJ's second-leading rebounder with 6.5 rebounds per game, she is ranked No. 4 in the country with a 46.3 3-point field goal percentage.
The Newport News, Va., native has recorded six 20-point scoring games, one 30-point performance and leads the Red Storm with 16 double-digit scoring efforts. She helped St. John's get recognized in both Top 25 Polls this year and is a two-time Met Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week, in addition to earning the BIG EAST Player of the Week distinction.
On Dec. 20, she became the all-time 3-point leader for St. John's when she tallied her 145th trey in the first half against Buffalo. She currently has connected on 167 3's all-time. Last season, McLean scored her 1,000th point and finished the year with 1,105 to rank 12th all-time. With 323 points to start the 2008-09 campaign, she moved into sixth place with 1,428. The senior is only three points away from tying Sabrina Johnson for fifth place all-time.
The Red Storm will return to action on Saturday when it travels to face West Virginia at 2 p.m. The game is part of the BIG EAST Game of the Week package and will be televised locally on SNY.
