QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's soccer program recently unveiled a brand-new, state-of-the-art team locker room that features individual amenities and a centrally-focused layout, while also paying special tribute to the program's four College Cup appearances, 15 BIG EAST Championships and 20 NCAA Tournament appearances.
"The vision for this locker room was carefully created and we could not be happier with the final result," said head coach Dr. Dave Masur. "It showcases our rich history and contains all of the proper amenities to give our student-athletes one of the best facilities in college soccer."
The carpeted locker room features two flat screen TVs, while each individual locker is made of oak and features an overhead light, a power outlet and a lockbox for valuables. The centrally-focused layout of the locker room was designed specifically to enhance team communication, while the amenities aim to encourage team bonding through the creation of an area that can also be used for relaxation rather than a space that is exclusively used for practice and game preparation.
The locker room came to fruition as a result of the time, energy and resources of longtime friend of the program Tony O'Donnell.
"We are so thankful to Tony for his extraordinary efforts in designing and constructing a locker room that gives everyone involved with this program a huge sense of pride," Masur added. "This locker room exemplifies the passion that Tony has always shown to our program."
St. John's finished with an 11-7-2 record last season after reaching the NCAA Tournament for the 20th time in program-history and advancing to the Second Round.
