St. John’s to Compete in UNLV Lady Rebel Round-Up

The Red Storm will open up play on Saturday against IUPUI
Coming off a pair of 82-point performances, the St. John's women's basketball team will look to maintain its recent offensive success when the team travels to Las Vegas for Lady Rebel Round-Up. The Johnnies will kick off play on Saturday with IUPUI at 4:30 p.m. ET.
The Johnnies unleashed their top offensive performance in the team's victory over UMass on Monday, shooting 50 percent from the field and draining 11 threes to tie for their second highest scoring effort this season. Through five games this year, the Johnnies sit second in the league in both scoring offense (76.2 ppg) and field goal percentage (46.9).
Qadashah Hoppie fueled the Red Storm's (4-1) offensive surge in the Johnnies' wins over Wake Forest and UMass. The junior guard averaged 22.5 points per game on 15-of-30 shooting to go with four boards, four steals and three assists. The Staten Island native leads the team in scoring this campaign with 20.4 points per contest for the second-highest scoring total in the BIG EAST.
Three other Johnnies finished in double figures in the team's win over UMass on Monday. Tiana England, the leagues leader in assists, drained 15 points against the Minutewomen. The Stamford Conn., native also dished out a team-high eight dimes bumping her career total up to 381. Through games played on Nov. 28, England ranks 11th in the nation for assists per outing with 6.8.
Freshmen Emma Nolan and Leilani Correa both eclipsed the double-digit mark knocking down 12 and 11 points, respectively against UMass. Correa is one of four Johnnies averaging double figures this year as she ranks second on the team with 11.4 points per game.
Saturday's contest with IUPUI will mark the Johnnies first ever meeting with the Jaguars.
IUPUI (3-2) enters Saturday's contest following three-straight setbacks. The Jaguars are coming off a 57-51 defeat at the hands UT Martin on Monday in Tennessee. Despite the Jags recent loss, freshman Natalie Andersen poured in a career-high 16 points.
IUPUI has three players averaging in double figures, including DePaul transfer Rachel McLimore who ranks second on the team with 11.6 points per game. Preseason Horizon League Player of the Year Macee Williams has paced her team this season with 13.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per contest through five starts. Holly Hoopingartner leads the IUPUI lineup in assists (17) and steals (12) to go along with 9.4 points per outing. Natalie Anderson rounds out IUPUI's leading scorers with 10.6 points per game.
Following Saturday's contest, the Johnnies will square off against either UNLV or Elon to wrap up play at the Lady Rebel Round-Up.
