St. John’s Dance Team Heads to National Championship

Red Storm will compete with game-day, hip hop and jazz routines.
QUEENS, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2020) - The St. John's dance team will look to reclaim its spot atop the national scene at this weekend 2020 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championship held in Orlando, Fla.
The Red Storm's earned a third-place finish in the game-day portion after claiming the inaugural championship in 2017. St. John's has been constant contenders in the hip hop section over the last eight seasons, including a back-to-back second place finishes in 2018 and 2019.
"This team is fully ready to take on the competition after months of preparation," Head Coach Christine McCarton said. "We are so excited to perform our routines this weekend."
The three-day event (Jan. 17-19) will take place at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex with the game-day routines slated for Friday, followed by jazz and hip hop performances on Saturday and Sunday. St. John's will be competing in the all three categories.
