Dr. Dave Masur unveils 18-match slate that features five ranked opponents
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's soccer program unveiled its 18-match schedule on Tuesday, which features five teams ranked in United Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Final poll.
The Red Storm will play 10 non-conference games and eight league matches, as it looks to defend its 2024 Co-BIG EAST East Division Championship. The slate features 10 home matches at the newly named Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium, including a five-game homestand stretching from Sept. 5-19.

The Johnnies are coming off their league-leading 16th BIG EAST Championship capturing a share of the divisional title with a 5-1-2 mark and a 9-6-5 overall record. Head Coach Dr. Dave Masur will lead the Johnnies from the sidelines for the 35th season in 2025 and is the second active winningest coach NCAA Division I Men's Soccer after reaching the elusive 400 career victory mark at St. John's last season.
The slate will kick-off with a pair of exhibition matches at home against Rider on Aug. 12 and on the road at the 2023 National Champions Syracuse on Aug. 16.
The Red Storm will open the regular season on Aug. 21 as it takes on Temple in Philadelphia. The Johnnies have won all four of the previous meetings against the Owls, including netting their highest scoring total against a Division I opponent since 1998 in a 7-1 rout on Sept. 11, 2023 at Belson Stadium.
Three days later, St. John's will make the short trip to Long Island to face Hofstra on the road for the first time since 1994. The two storied programs will meet on Aug. 24 for the 16th time with the Red Storm leading the series, 10-3-2. The Pride is coming off a fourth-straight CAA Championship and earned a final national ranking of No. 23 in 2024.
The Johnnies will host their home opener in Queens on Aug. 28 against New Hampshire at Cox Family Field at 7 p.m. The Thursday night contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs, as the Wildcats have qualified for seven of the last eight NCAA Tournaments.
Following the home opener, the Red Storm will hit the road to take on the reigning ACC Champions Wake Forest on Aug. 31. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium In Winston-Salem, N.C. as the squads will meet for the first time since 2003.
As the calendar turns to September, Coach Masur's squad will host its longest homestand since the 2021 campaign with five consecutive matches in Queens. On Sept. 5, the Red Storm welcome Marshall for a 7 p.m. tilt at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium. In last year's meeting, St. John's drew the then-No. 6 Thunder Herd, 1-1, on Sept. 14 in West Virginia. Marshall went on to become the National Runner-Up advancing to its second College Cup in the last five years.
The Johnnies will continue their homestand with three more non-conference home matches against Rhode Island (Sept. 8), FDU (Sept. 11) and Sacred Heart (Sept. 14). All three contests will kick-off in Queens at 7 p.m.
St. John's will finish out its home stint with its BIG EAST opener against Xavier on a Friday night on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
The next weekend, the Johnnies will head down to Washington D.C. to face Georgetown on Sept. 27 at Shaw Field. In last year's meeting the Red Storm downed the then-No. 28 Hoyas, 2-0, in Queens to secure the Co-BIG EAST East Division crown.
The Red Storm will gear up for its second straight conference road match on Oct. 3 when it faces Akron at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Red Storm is unbeaten in five previous meetings with the Zips.
The following Saturday on Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m., the Red Storm will host Providence in the 40th all-time meeting between the two schools. On Oct. 17, the Johnnies will travel to Storrs, Conn., to meet UConn at Morrone Stadium.
St. John's will then ready for its non-conference finale on Oct. 21 as it takes on Monmouth at 7 p.m. in New Jersey.
Four days later, the St. John's will meet Seton Hall for a 4:30 p.m. kick-off at Belson. The contest marks rematch of last year's BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinal, where the Red Storm defeated the Pirates, 2-0, for its third consecutive victory of its conference foe.
In its final regular season road match, the Johnnies will battle Villanova on Nov. 1 at Higgins Soccer Complex.
The Red Storm will close the regular season with a pair of home matches in one weekend as it will wrap up BIG EAST competition against Butler on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. before the finale on Nov. 9 against Hunter, also at 7 p.m.
