QUEENS, N.Y.- St. John's Men's Basketball Head Coach Rick Pitino is featured on the newest episode of the YES Network Series Home Plate: New York, premiering today on The Gotham Sports App.
The 2024-25 National Coach of the Year joins the show's host and award-winning chef, author and food activist Marcus Samuelsson for a visit to Italian restaurant, Sergio's Saw Pit in Port Chester, N.Y.
Home Plate: New York is an original series that features Samuelsson giving a behind-the-scenes look at New York City restaurants alongside well-known athletes and entertainers. The show streams on The Gotham Sports App.
During the episode, Pitino and Samuelsson head to Westchester to indulge in Italian cuisine at one of the Hall of Famer's favorite area restaurants. Sergio's Saw Pit Chef and Owner Sergio Gashi gave the duo a tour of the kitchen showcasing the preparation of his signature dishes.
Home Plate: New York has welcomed many New York sports stars and world-renowned entertainers including- Yankees' six-time MLB All-Star Gerrit Cole, U.S. Women's National Team standout Rose Lavelle, NBA Hall of Famers Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady, actors Steve Schirrpa and Lorraine Bracco from the hit TV show "The Sopranos" and many more.
Pitino is entering his third season at the helm at St. John's and his 38th year as NCAA Division I Head Coach. The 2013 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee is fresh off leading the Johnnies the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championship, a 31-5 overall record and a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Red Storm bring back four returners and welcome a talented class of 11 newcomers.
