The NBA Draft Combine will be held in Chicago from May 10-17
QUEENS, N.Y.– St. John's men's basketball standouts Zuby Ejiofor and Dillon Mitchell have been invited to the upcoming NBA Draft Combine, the league announced on Friday.
Ejiofor and Mitchell are two of the 73 players invited to this year's combined, which will be held from May 10-17 at Wintrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis in Chicago. The participants will be evaluated by all 30 NBA franchises ahead of the 80th annual draft, which will be held on June 23-24 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The Johnnies were one of 17 schools to have multiple players selected to participate in the NBA Draft Combine. It marks the second straight year that the Red Storm will be represented after RJ Luis Jr. competed in the event in 2025.
Ejiofor finished his career in Queens as one of the program's most decorated players in decades. The team captain started in all 37 games this past season, averaging 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.1 blocks per game to lead the team in all four categories.
The senior racked up a plethora of awards and recognition after his standout season. Ejiofor was a CBS Sports Second Team All-American and a USBWA and Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American. In the BIG EAST, he became the league's first player to win player of the year, defensive player of the year, scholar-athlete of the year and the Dave Gavitt Trophy as the BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
Mitchell arrived in Queens for his final collegiate season after stints at Texas and Cincinnati. The athletic 6-foot-8 forward electrified the crowd with his thunderous dunks and impressive defensive plays. In 2025-26, the Tampa native averaged 8.3 points on 55.9% shooting, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Often playing the point despite his size, he ranked 27th in NCAA Division I in assist-to-turnover ratio with a mark of 3.0-to-1.
The senior was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team and All-Defensive Team. Additionally, he was tabbed a NABC All-District and All-Met Second Team honoree. The team captain made 131 starts in 144 appearances throughout his career and totaled 903 total boards, which ranked 11th in the country among active players at the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.
The duo helped guide the Red Storm to its second straight 30-win season in 2025-26. St. John's became the first program in the BIG EAST's storied history to win the outright regular season title and tournament championship in back-to-back years. In the NCAA Tournament, the Johnnies advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1999.
