SJU Cheerleading, Dance Teams Qualify for National Competitions

JAMAICA, N.Y. -- The St. Johns University cheerleading and dance teams have qualified for their respective national championships after submitting video taped entries. The national championships will be held in Orlando from January 9-13, 2002.

The cheerleading team, under the direction of Matt Sonberg and Allyssa Roegnik, finished in ninth place, and will compete in the Small Coed Division.

The dance team, under the director of SJU alum Christine Kress, finished in 14th place in Division I, and will compete in the Division I Championship.
