St. Johns Postpones Upcoming Athletic Events

The University closed early on Tuesday and school officials announced that classes will resume on Thursday morning.
The second-ranked St. Johns mens soccer team was scheduled to play Columbia tonight at the Lions Baker Field in Upper Manhattan, but that match was postponed. In addition, the Red Storms match at fifth-ranked Connecticut, scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m., has been postponed.
The football teams game at St. Francis (Pa.) University has been postponed; the womens soccer team had matches against Pittsburgh (Friday) and Duquesne (Sunday) postponed; the volleyball team will not play in the Bucknell Tournament; the mens golf team will not participate in this weekends PSNet Invitational, being held at the University of Minnesota; the mens tennis team will not play in the Penn State Invitational; the cross country teams will not run at the Stony Brook Invitational; and the softball team will not play in a tournament in Stratford, Connecticut.
No details are available at this time for any rescheduled events.
A prayer vigil was held on the St. Johns campus on Tuesday afternoon for the University and many Red Storm student-athletes were among a group of students who volunteered to give blood. Buses were made available to students on Tuesday, and departed from campus, dropping off students at hospitals in Queens to donate blood for the victims.
