SJUs Hatten Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

Hatten led the Red Storm to two wins last week, averaging 23.5 points, 7.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals in the process.
St. Johns won its first BIG EAST Conference road game of the season, and defeated its third nationally-ranked opponent, with a 64-57 decision at Boston College. Hatten scored 18 points, connecting on 8 of 10 free throws, grabbed five rebounds, set a career-high with eight assists and registered four steals in the win.
On Sunday at Madison Square Garden, Hatten lifted the Red Storm team on his shoulders and carried them to a thrilling 65-63 win over Villanova. Hatten hit a fallaway jumper with eight seconds on the clock to clinch the win. The junior guard scored a game-high 29 points, connecting on 12-of-21 shots from the field, handed out six assists, with four steals and three rebounds to lead St. Johns. Hatten scored 10 of the teams last 15 points in the game.
In just 17 games, Hatten has established himself as the Red Storms go-to player, leading the team in scoring with 19.1 points per game (sixth in the BIG EAST), assists with 4.71 per game (ninth in the conference) and in steals, with 3.76 per game (second in the conference, while ranking second on the team with 5.1 rebounds per game. Hatten is also averaging a league-best 21.3 points per game average in conference games.
St. Johns (13-4, 4-2 BIG EAST) returns to action on Wednesday, playing at Connecticut (12-3, 5-0 BIG EAST) at 7:30 p.m. at Gampel Pavilion. The game can be seen on WLNY TV-55, and will be broadcast on ESPN Radio 1050 AM.
