NEW YORK (AP) - Freshman Carlos Rivera was made five of six shots from 3-point range and scored 20 points to lead Hofstra to an 81-64 victory over St. John's on Tuesday night.
The Pride (2-3) were coming off road losses to Georgia Tech, Providence and Maryland, but being in the Red Storm's Alumni Hall didn't seem to bother them at all.
Combined with last week's overtime loss to Fairfield, it is just the 10th time St. John's (1-3) has lost consecutive games in its on-campus building that opened in December 1961. The most the Red Storm have ever lost in a row at home is three, which happened twice.
Kenny Adeleke had 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Pride, who took control early and led 43-24 at halftime. Hofstra was 11-for-19 from 3-point range with Danny Walker, who had 17 points, going 5-for-7 from beyond the arc.
Grady Reynolds had 22 points for the Red Storm, while Elijah Ingram had 18.
Hofstra shot 54.4 percent (31-for-57), while St. John's was 24-for-58 (41.4 percent).
St. John's was trailing 20-15 with 11:30 to play in the first half when Hofstra went on an 11-0 run that included two 3s by Rivera.
St. John's pulled to 57-44 with 12:17 to play but Hofstra went on another 11-0 run that started and ended with a 3 by Walker.
It was just Hofstra's second win in 23 meetings with St. John's. The other win came in the 2000-01 season.
