Queens, NY - St. John's University will dedicate their Alumni Hall court to legendary Hall of Fame Coach Lou Carnesecca as part of halftime ceremonies when the Red Storm men's basketball team plays St. Francis, NY on November 23rd.
"We are deeply grateful for Lou's dedication to St. John's, both through our basketball program and his contributions to the University since his retirement," said Donald J. Harrington, C.M., President of St. John's University.
A special video presentation, appearances from former players, coaches and surprise guests will highlight the halftime celebration hosted by WNBC-TV sportscaster Bruce Beck.
"I spent so many years of my life on that court, with so many great players and coaches," said Carnesecca, forever enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1992. "This is a great honor from my alma mater and I thank Fr. Harrington and everyone at St. John's for thinking so much of me."
Fr. Harrington, men's basketball coach Norm Roberts, women's basketball coach Kim Barnes Arico and Coach Carnesecca will be on hand for a pregame press conference at 4:30 p.m. prior to the game.
