QUEENS, N.Y. -
Norm Roberts
Head Coach, St. John's University
On playing against his Alma Mater:
"I thought it was a great night for Queens College because that's where I grew up and played and those people over there are just great people. If there's anything I can do or anything our program can do to help them, I'd be glad to do it."
On Aaron Spears:
"Aaron's done great. He's not a run and jump player, he's an inside force for us. When we go up against the bigger teams we now have a bigger guy to battle against them along side Lamont."
On the chemistry of the team:
"I think the guys get along really well and they like each other a lot. They spend a lot of time together and the veteran guys have taken in the newcomers and made them feel comfortable here at St. John's. I think our guys understand their roles and what they can do to help our team and we try to define those as much as we can."
Daryll Hill
Junior, Guard
On tonight's game:
"We came here to play hard and bring home a win. Every game we play we come out to win regardless if it's an exhibition game or not."
On having teammate support on the court:
"We have a lot of good freshmen this year and it opens things up for me. I can show my passing ability and get everyone involved opposed to me being picked out to just score points."
Kyrk Peponakis
Head Coach, Queens College
On playing against St. John's:
"I graduated from St. John's in 1988 and I used to go to a lot of men's basketball games. St. John's is a great place and when Coach Roberts called and gave us this opportunity we had to take it. I gave Coach Roberts a call on Saturday just to thank him again. He has helped my program immensely."
On playing at Carnesecca Arena:
"This was quite the crowd and I think the biggest crowd we've playing in front of. We've gone to the NCAA tournament but never had a crowd like tonight. We had a lot of our own supporters out there in the stands tonight too, which was great for us."
On making the game an annual event:
"I'd love to come back. It's a great opportunity. It was a tough loss but it was a great opportunity for these men. It was something we've never had the chance to do before and it was first class all the way."
