Norm Roberts
Head Coach, St. John's University
On today's game:
"It was an extremely hard-fought game. I thought our guys did a great job in the second half making the adjustments needed and they believed in one another and that is why we were successful."
On the team's endurance:
"We are able to wear teams down and I think that tonight by the time we got to the five minute mark, they were tired and we still had fresh legs. Jermaine Maybank gave us a great four minutes, Ricky Torres gave us a great five minutes and Daryll and Eugene did an unbelievable job at the end guarding Miles."
On the difference between last year and this year's teams:
"On the first big time loose ball of the game, I wanted Niagara to go back to their bench and say `hey, this team is different than last year.' I believe that in their minds and in their hearts, they did say that to themselves. This team is a lot better than they were last year."
On Tuesday's game against Hofstra:
We have to take it one game at a time and Hofstra is going to be a totally different game. It's going to be a lot like today's game but it's still going to be a very different atmosphere. I think our guys have grown up and can win games like this.
Daryll Hill
Junior, Guard
St. John's University
On his performance today:
"I had to calm myself down in the second half. I told myself to play hard and play smart and just see what happens."
Eugene Lawrence
Sophomore, Guard
St. John's University
On his role in today's win:
"I tried to set the tempo for the game and let Niagara know that they're not just going to come in here and storm through like they did last year."
Joe Mihalich
Head Coach, Niagara University
On today's game:
"St. John's did what they had to do in the end. We certainly had our chance, but their defense was tougher than our offense."
