Head coach Norm Roberts and Aaron Spears address the media before Wednesday night's game against Marquette at 8 p.m. at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
Norm Roberts
Head Coach, St. John's
On Aaron Spears:
"Aaron was more bouncy yesterday in practice. He had a lot of energy. I think he's excited to play close to home. He plays to his strengths. He knows what he can and cannot do. He won't try to play out of character. But I want him to be excited. He should be excited."
On Lamont Hamilton:
"I know its frustrating for him because he wants to play better and at times he has played not as well as he's liked. I told him that we can't have huge fluxuations; we have to find a happy medium. He understands that. Lamont wants to play and he wants to play great. He gives very good effort and he just has to get more consistent in his aggressiveness. When Lamont is aggressive from minute one, he plays real well."
On Marquette:
"They are very good. They can really score. They can score from different positions and they have big guys who can step out and shoot. Steve Novak is one of the best guys in the league. He has a lot of experience. Their freshman point guard, Dominic James, is having a great year. All their guys who come off the bench for Marquette give them positive minutes. Coach Crean does a great job of getting his team to play within their roles."
On Wednesday night's game:
"We need to be in the attack mode. If we play to our strengths, we can play up tempo with them. I'm going to push it at them every single time. It's a game where we definitely need to have an inside presence. We need to get the ball inside. Their strength is Novak shooting 3-pointers. Our strength is Novak trying to guard Lamont inside."
Aaron Spears
Junior, Forward
On playing close to home:
"It is going to feel real good to come back tomorrow night, especially since we're playing so close to Chicago. A lot of my friends and family are coming so I'm really excited to play tomorrow."
On tomorrow night's game:
"Marquette is a good team. They have talented players and they play hard. They have a couple of Chicago guys that I know who are really good. I just have to play my game, play smart, and try to stay out of foul trouble."
