Loyola Head Coach Jimmy Patsos
On his team???s performance:
???I thought it was a very good game. I???m disappointed. We were up 10 and we lost by 10 so that means we got outscored by 20 in the last eight minutes. We didn???t run enough offense. When we have the lead we have to run offense and take time off. We got impatient but we???re a young team. Our point guard has never played before, our transfer sat out two years, Marquis Sullivan???s young. We???re learning.???
Navy Head Coach Billy Lange
On his team???s defensive intensity:
???It???s amazing how important that area of the game is. When we have young kids, and they are skilled, they have to start to realize how connected those areas must be. It???s a new defensive scheme for us so we are trying to get our guys used to it. But they believe in each other. You could see it, the intensity. They started talking, they did a better job blocking out, they only gave up three offensive rebounds in the second half, so I thought our guys just played hard and they believed.???
On the team???s five-point play in the second half:
???That was huge. It was like a video game. Where do you ever get a five-point play like that? It was a great screen set by our kid, great poise by our guy to knock it down and I think going and making those free throws was huge.???
On playing in the 2006 2k Sports College Hoops Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer:
???We have kids from Dallas and Hickory, North Carolina. They don???t even know anything about this place. When they asked who Walter Berry was, I almost smacked them. It???s just a pleasure to be involved in this tournament, to be at St. John???s and to be around this tradition is great for our kids.???
