Postgame Notes: Texas 77, St. John's 76

- With the 77-76 loss in the 2K Sports Classic consolation game, St. John's finished in fourth place in the tournament.
- Junior guard Avery Patterson, the New York Regional Most Valuable Player, was named to the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer All-Tournament team after establishing new tournament records with 19 three-point field goals and 38 three-point attempts.
- Patterson scored 22 points against Texas and finished the four-game tournament with 68 points and a 17.0 ppg scoring average. The junior has continued to lead St. John's perimeter attack, as the Red Storm nailed 11-of-21 three-point attempts against the Longhorns.
- Ricky Torres was 3-of-3 from long range and just missed posting back-to-back double-figure scoring games for the first time in his career. All of Torres' nine points came by way of the 3-pointer, as the sophomore set a new career-high with three 3's.
- Sophomore Anthony Mason Jr. scored 13 points off the bench, hitting double figures for the 11th time in his career and sixth time in 10 career games at Madison Square Garden.
- The Red Storm opened the game with a 13-2 run and went on a 10-0 spurt to tie the game at 60-60 with 10:35 remaining in the game. Torres 3-pointers capped the run and gave the Red Storm its first lead of the second half with a 3 at the 8:18 mark of the period.
- Junior forward Lamont Hamilton posted his first double-double of the season and the 13th of his career with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
- Senior guard Daryll Hill made his first start of the season and went for 10 points and a season-high eight assists. Hill fell just short of his career-high of nine assists, which was done twice, and committed just one turnover.
- As a team, St. John's had assists on 21 of its 29 baskets and had a positive assist-to-turnover ratio (21:18) for the third time in four games.
