WASHINGTON (AP) - Brandon Bowman scored 16 points, Roy Hibbert had 14, and Georgetown's defense defeated St. John's 64-41.
Bowman and Hibbert were a combined 12-for-16 from the field, a one-two punch that accounted for 30 of Georgetown's first 50 points as the 15th-ranked Hoyas (17-4, 8-2 Big East) avoided a letdown in between games against ranked teams Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
Daryl Hill scored seven points - all in one second-half stretch after the game was well out of reach - to lead the Red Storm (10-11, 3-7), who shot 33 percent and had as many turnovers as made field goals (16). St. John's has lost five straight since handing Pitt its first loss of the season on Jan. 21.
The Hoyas continued to be unpredictable when it comes to picking their leading contributors on a given night. While Bowman and Hibbert were prolific, Big East player of the week Jeff Green didn't make a field goal until his 3-pointer with 8:30 remaining gave the Hoyas a 31-point lead. Green finished with nine points, mostly from free throws, and starting guard Ashanti Cook went 0-for-5 from the field.
The Hoyas opened the game with 14-2 run, holding the Red Storm to 1-for-10 shooting and five turnovers in the first 8 1/2 minutes. Bowman and Hibbert accounted for 12 of the 14 points, with Bowman capping the run with a steal and breakaway dunk.
Lamont Hamilton scored six quick points to cut the lead to nine, then promptly picked up his second foul and sat for the rest of the half. The Red Storm went 7-for-24 from the field and 1-for-6 from the free-throw line in scoring a season-low 18 first-half points. Hill, averaging a team-high 12.7 points entering the game, went 0-for-1 and had five of his team's nine turnovers in the half.
Meanwhile, Darryl Owens hit a pair of 3-pointers to help put the Hoyas ahead by 18. Anthony Mason Jr.'s 3-pointer for St. John's to cut the lead to 30-18 at the half.
