- With the loss, St. John's finishes the season 12-15 overall and 5-11 in BIG EAST Conference play, while Rutgers improves to 17-12 and 7-9.
- Five St. John's seniors - three players, two managers - were honored prior to the game as part of Senior Day. Phil Missere, Nygel Roach and Ryan Williams and senior student-managers Thomas Lally and Shannon Verbos were honored for their years of hard work in the Red Storm basketball program.
- The Red Storm's 70 points were the team's most in six games, while the 82 points by Rutgers were the most by a St. John's opponent all season.
- Sophomore point guard Eugene Lawrence scored a career-high 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, 4-of-8 from 3-point range and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Lawrence also added seven assists and just one turnover and two steals in 39 minutes.
- Lamont Hamilton (14 points) and Anthony Mason Jr. (12) each got into double figures, the first time in seven games that St. John's has had three double-digit scorers.
- Mason played 34 minutes after missing the last three games with an ankle sprain and also chipped in with six boards, two assists and two 3-pointers.
- Williams left the game early in the first half with a sprained right knee and logged just two minutes in the game.
- Freshman Ricky Torres just missed his third double-digit scoring game, scoring nine points on 4-of-8 shooting. Torres closed the year by averaging 6.9 points and 15.1 minutes over the last seven games.
- The Red Storm set a new season-high with eight 3-point field goals and tied a season-high with 26 three-point attempts.
- After combining to shoot 35.7 percent from the floor in the first half, St. John's and Rutgers shot a combined 62.0 percent in the second.
- Both teams had 16 assists and 10 turnovers for a 1.80 assist-to-turnover ratio. The mark was the Red Storm's highest since posting 20 assists and 11 turnovers in a win over Columbia (12/27) - a span of 17 games.
