QUEENS, N.Y. -
Head Coach Norm Roberts
On reflecting on the first meeting with Georgetown:
"The team knows how talented Georgetown is. They know some of the mistakes they made the first time we played them and they know we can't make those same mistakes. We didn't guard the screen and roll very well and we gave them too many open shots. It allowed them to gain confidence. We weren't causing enough havoc on defense."
On the positives from the Duke game:
"We made some plays and played with energy. We played well on defense and that is what you have to do. You have to do that against every team you play. We started off with a lot of energy."
On the team's morale:
"They are kids. They are young. They are trying to get better. The tough situation is that we are playing great basketball teams at the same time. They were tight when they shot the ball and were tense on offense and they shouldn't be that way. If you're open, you shoot the ball."
Freshman Forward Sean Evans
On what needs to be done at Georgetown:
"We have to do all the little things, get the hustle plays, execute plays and come out from minute one and play hard the whole game."
On Roy Hibbert:
"He is a skilled player. He can do a lot at his size. We can try to use the dribble to get around him. They switch a lot on ball screens and he could get stuck with a faster person. We have to use that to our advantage. We always swing the ball in practice, but shy away from it in games. We have to take advantage of mismatches."
Senior Guard Eugene Lawrence
On the goals for the remainder of the season:
"We still have four games left and I would like to win them all. There are still goals to be accomplished. Our main goal is to try to make the BIG EAST Tournament. It would be good for our freshman and it would be a good experience for their career at St. John's."
