QUEENS, N.Y. - As part of the Red Storm's commitment to St. John's Vincentian mission of community service and charitable deeds, the STJ men's and women's basketball programs will lend a helping hand to Hooper's Toy Drive, an annual collection of holiday toys for underprivileged children.
Drop boxes for donated toys will be located in Carnesecca Arena from Nov. 4 through Dec. 16. Fans can make contributions at eight Red Storm home games, including the St. John's men's basketball home opener against Westmont on Nov. 6 and home contests against Columbia (Nov. 17), Wagner (Dec. 1) and St. Bonaventure (Dec. 7). Donations can also be made during the STJ women's basketball home opener against Manhattan on Nov. 16 as well as at games against Columbia (Nov. 19), Nicholls State (Nov. 26) and Seton Hall (Dec. 8).
Hooper's Toy Drive, started in 2008, is part of St. John's Public Relations Campaign fall undergraduate seminar. Red Storm men's basketball senior guard/forward D.J. Kennedy and STJ women's basketball senior guard Sky Lindsay are taking the seminar this fall.
"Bring one, new unwrapped toy to any of our home games and help us make the holidays brighter for kids in need," Lindsay said.

This year, the seminar's goal is to collect and distribute 1,500 toys to four charitable organizations: Toys for Tots, Shriners Hospital, MOMMAS House and St. John's Bread & Life.
"We can each make a difference," Kennedy said. "Please support out teams and help our cause."
