QUEENS, N.Y. -
Head Coach Norm Roberts
On Seton Hall:
"They were a good team last year. They have a lot of guys that can score in different ways and a lot of guys that can come off the bench and really help them. We have to play the way we play and with a defensive mindset. We can't give up easy baskets or get beat off the dribble. We can't let them control the tempo of the game."
On Justin Burrell:
"He has played well in the last five games. We have been getting him the ball and he has been patient, but aggressive in the post. He is playing with confidence and is really helping us."
Junior Forward Justin Burrell
On what he needs to focus on against Seton Hall:
"I need to do what I do well. When I play in character, I play well, but it's when I step out of character that I struggle. I didn't understand my struggle. I watched a lot of film from my freshman year and I just can't over-think things on the court. I have to let myself play and react."
On the St. John's-Seton Hall rivalry:
"This will be a good game. Whenever we play a local team, things get crazy. The atmosphere is great. I am looking forward to the big-time atmosphere tomorrow night."
On the Notre Dame game:
"We gave them their third loss I think at home. That's big. It was our first road win in BIG EAST games and that was big too. We needed to keep the momentum from out win over Louisville and we did that on the road."
Junior Guard Dwight Hardy
On his shooting at Notre Dame:
"I got off to a good start and that's what was important. We did a good job of getting the ball inside in their zone defense and our big guys were able to kick the ball back out so I could knock down shots. It was all about the holes in their zone and having our feet set on the outside. I struggled the past few games and I just wanted to come out and be aggressive to win."
Freshman Guard Malik Stith
On the tempo against Seton Hall:
"If they want to run, we like to get up and down the court, so that is good for us. There is a rivalry between our teams so it will be a fun and exciting game."
On the team's victories in the last two games:
"Maybe it was the uniforms. When we felt the second half droughts coming on, we called a time out to get our offense going and it really worked for us against Louisville and Notre Dame."
