Team Notes
St. John's had all five starters score in double figures for the first time since Feb. 26, 2000 in an 83-82 win at Duke - the last non-conference loss for the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
At least four players scored in double figures for the third time in as many games.
St. John's is averaging 78.0 points per game, including 45.3 points in the second half this season, while shooting a combined 46-of-82 (56.1 percent) in the second stanza.
After forcing 20 turnovers against UMBC, St. John's is forcing an average of 19.0 turnovers a game this season.
The Red Storm had 14 turnovers in the contest, but just five in the second half. Through two games, St. John's is averaging 10.7 turnovers per game with just 3.3 in the second half.
The Red Storm outscored the Retrievers 44-20 in the paint, 22-4 in fast break points, and 15-8 in second chance points.
The Red Storm shot a season-high 80 percent (24-of-30) from the free throw line.
Individual Notes
Sophomore guard Nurideen Lindsey recorded his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while dishing out nine assists to come up just one short of a triple-double. Lindsey scored 15 points or more for the third time in as many games.
Freshman forward Moe Harkless netted a game-high 18 points to set a new-career high on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.
Junior God'sgift Achiuwa scored 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 performance from the free throw line. It was the second-straight game Achiuwa was perfect from the charity stripe after going 9-of-9 against Lehigh (Nov. 9).
D'Angelo Harrison set a new-career high with 17 points and three 3-point buckets.
Junior guard Malik Stith scored the Red Storm's first seven points of the second half to finish with 11 total points, all coming in the second half.
