St. John's Assistant Coach Mike Dunlap
Opening statement:
"Good hard game. We left the game on the free throw line, it was that simple. You can talk about the rebounds and you can talk about the turnovers but the bottom line is free throws are easy baskets and when you miss 11 of those it is real simple, it's something that we have to do better at. The stats can drive you crazy as far as rebounds, but Villanova comes in second in boards. From the free throw line, those are easy buckets and we did not make them. It is important we stay on it and it is where we can get better."
On having a young team:
"We have a competitive spirit. It's the first time for them playing together and all they have is film. These games will have tremendous meaning as they go forward. It is painful with an OT loss, but we look forward to practice to draw things up that will help us when we play West Virginia."
Freshman Guard Phil Greene
On the last possession:
"Coach drew up a good play and we just did not come out and execute it right, but we still had a good opportunity to win the game."
Freshman Guard D'Angelo Harrison
On the game:
"I do not think we ran out of gas, I think we needed to be more aggressive. There were a couple of turnovers and they had easy baskets. We can't have that when we are playing against a good team like Villanova."
