QUEENS, N.Y. - St. St. John's women's soccer will close out the regular season on the road at New York state rival and travel-partner Syracuse. The Red Storm and Orange will face off in a 4:30 p.m. match up on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Saturday's Quick Kicks
• The game will be broadcast live with audio and video on Syracuse' Orange All-Access. Fans can also follow the game live via live stats on Syracuse's website SUAthletics.com.

• Syracuse has already guaranteed themselves a spot in next week's BIG EAST Champions, but St. John's needs a win to move on. The Red Storm currently has seven points in the BIG EAST standings, a victory at Syracuse would give St. John's 10 points and a chance to qualify for the annual postseason tournament.
• St. John's (6-9-1, 2-6-1 BIG EAST) and Syracuse (8-6-2, 5-3-1 BIG EAST) have met 17 times during their all-time series history. Syracuse has a 9-6-2 advantage over the Red Storm, but St. John's has a 3-1-1 series advantage in the past five games.
• Similar to the 2011 meeting between these two in-state rivals, Syracuse is No. 3 in the American Division. Last year's meeting between these two teams in Queens prompted the "win and we're in" campaign from the St. John's student-body, team and athletic department. This year, the meeting also holds significance in St. John's play-off berth possibilities.
• Friday night, DePaul lost to Notre Dame, also giving St. John's another shot at moving on.
• The top four teams in each Division  will move on. After that, the next two teams from either Division with the highest points per game average will also qualify.
• Going into Saturday's game, St. John's is 2-2-1 in its last five games, looking for one final regular season win.
Scouting The Syracuse Orange
• Saturday's game is senior day for the Syracuse Orange. Coincidently, senior Alyscha Mottershead leads the Orange in points with 10 on a team-best four goals and two assists. Mottershead is helped out by classmate Jenna Rickan on the scoring front as she also has 10 points. Rickan has two goals and a team-best six assists.
• In goal for the Orange is junior Brittany Anghel, who has played every minute in goal this season. Anghel has a 1.08 goals against average with 61 saves and four shutouts.
• The Orange is 4-1-1 at home this season with a loss against Washington on Aug. 26 and a tie against Albany on Aug. 24.
• Syracuse also lost its last two games before Saturday's contest, against Marquette and USF, same as with St. John's.
Red Storm vs. Orange - The Series
• Friday's meeting is the 17th meeting all-time between the two American Division teams and New York rivals. The series dates back to Sept. 27, 1996, with the Red Storm losing the first three meetings. St. John's got its first win over Syracuse on Oct. 7, 2001, at home. The Red Storm won 1-0. In recent meetings, St. John's is 3-1-1 over Syracuse.
• In the last meeting between the two squads in Syracuse, N.Y., the Orange defeated St. John's 1-0 on Sept. 17, the 2010 BIG EAST opener. The Orange scored in the 17th minute for the game-winner.
• The last time these two teams played each other was on Oct. 21, 2011. St. John's defeated the Orange 2-0 with two goals by then-senior Jen Leaverton.
Marking a Milestone
• With the 4-0 victory over Seton Hall on Sunday, Sept. 30, head coach Ian Stone recorded his 170th career win at St. John's. Stone, only the third head coach in St. John's women's soccer program history, is 170-142-38 (.537) at the helm of the Red Storm.
• Sunday's win was also the 60th BIG EAST victory for the St. John's women's soccer program on a whole. St. John's women's soccer began play in the BIG EAST Conference in 1994 - making waves by winning the conference Tournament.
StormTracker
