NEW YORK, N.Y. -
Head Coach Steve Lavin
On the game against Georgetown:
"Georgetown came in and got off to a great start and then maintained the lead for the majority of the game. It was a dominating performance by Georgetown. We got taken to the woodshed in all aspects of the game. They beat us to the punch from start to finish. It's not really that complicated. It's back to the drawing board for us, as we get ready for Notre Dame on Tuesday. You have to give credit to Georgetown for coming back from a 28-point defeat on their home floor then coming into the Garden and winning facing the possibility of being 0-3 in the BIG EAST."
On life in the BIG EAST:
"I always say nothing will surprise me because I know that we play in the BIG EAST and every day we are surprised by the scores. Because of our youth, this will be a rollercoaster ride. I've said from the start, you have to buckled up and expect the unexpected with this group. Our win at Cincinnati probably surprised some people because we were big underdogs and got the victory. Then, in a game like this, we were thoroughly dominated by Georgetown. We're at a point as a basketball program, as a team, where every practice and every day is a new experience."
Freshman forward JaKarr Sampson
On Georgetown's zone defense:
"They did a good job on D'Angelo [Harrison]. They didn't let D'Angelo loose and get hot when we needed him to. I got shots inside the zone that I normally make, the mid-range shot, and I didn't make them. That's what hurt us too. They did a good job with the zone on us, a good job switching, keeping us off balance. That zone was tough to go against."
Sophomore guard/forward Sir'Dominic Pointer
On the game:
"They came out ready to play with a mentality that we didn't match. This is what happens when you don't come out ready to play. We started off calm. We tried to come back, but against a good team, you're not going to come back."
Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III
On his team's performance:
"You lose a couple of games and sometimes you feel like you're never going to win another game. Our guys responded today; up and down the line, every single person that was called upon came in and did their part. Start with Otto [Porter] and Markel [Starks] and also Nate [Lubick]; the three of them were terrific today. The energy, enthusiasm and communication with each other were all great."
