QUEENS, N.Y. - Team Notes
- St. John's finished with 13 blocks, the most since also swatting 13 shots against UNC Asheville on Dec. 21, 2012 and just two shy of matching the school-record of 15 set last season against Fordham on Dec. 8, 2012.
- The Red Storm dished out a season-high 15 assists and committed a season-low six turnovers, the fewest in a game since having just five turnovers against DePaul on Jan. 30, 2013.
- St. John's was -3 (35-32) on the glass, the first time this season that the squad has been outrebounded. The Red Storm was even on the boards against Wisconsin and finished +11 against Wagner.
- St. John's shot 70.0 percent (7-of-10) from the free throw line and has shot at least 70.0 percent in all three games this season. The Red Storm is shooting 76.8 percent (53-of-69) from the charity stripe on the year.
- After shooting just 1-of-8 (12.5 percent) from long range in the first half, the Red Storm shot 3-of-7 (42.9 percent) in the second half and finished with a season-best four 3-pointers.
- St. John's committed just nine fouls in the contest, the lowest total since being called for just eight fouls against DePaul on Jan. 19, 2013.
Individual Notes
- Phil Greene IV scored a season-high 16 points to reach double-figures for first time this season and the 31st time in his career. Greene, who had 12 points in the second half alone, was 7-of-12 from the floor and 2-of-4 from long range.
- Chris Obekpa blocked a season-high seven shots, his highest total since a seven-swat performance against Marquette on March 9, 2013. The seven blocks marked the 12th time that Obekpa has blocked at least five shots in a game. The sophomore added six points and six rebounds, five offensive.
- D'Angelo Harrison reached double-figures for the third-straight game and finished with 12 points. Harrison finished 5-of-6 from the free throw line, but made his first four free throw attempts of the game to extend his season-opening streak to 23-consecutive made free throws.
- JaKarr Sampson scored 11 points to reach double-figures for the third time in as many games this season. Sampson grabbed six rebounds and is averaging a team-high 6.7 boards this season.
- Sir'Dominic Pointer scored four points, matched a team-high with six rebounds, dished out a team-best six assists, recorded a game-high three steals and added one block. The six assists were the most for Pointer since a six-assist performance against USF on Feb. 20, 2013.
- Orlando Sanchez scored six points and grabbed five rebounds to go with a career-high three assists and a career-high four blocked shots.
- Rysheed Jordan went 3-of-6 from the floor and scored a career-high seven points in just 14 minutes of action.
