BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Team Notes
- The St. John's defense held Georgia Tech without a double-figure scorer, the first time since a 76-49 win against Sacred Heart on Nov. 20, 2007 that the Red Storm has held an opponent without a double-figure scorer.
- St. John's, which trailed by seven at halftime, improved to 2-2 this season when trailing at the break. The Red Storm previously erased a three-point deficit in a win against Bucknell on Nov. 19, 2013.
- St. John's finished 4-of-12 (33.3 percent) from long range and has fired at a 46.9 percent clip (15-of-32) from distance in the past two games. The Red Storm is 2-1 this season when shooting at least 33.3 percent from 3-point range.
- The Red Storm went to the charity stripe 35 times, one shy of matching a season-high, and converted 27 of those attempts for a 77.1 percent performance. St. John's is 3-1 this year when shooting at least 70.0 percent from the free throw line.
- St. John's forced a season-high 20 turnovers, the most miscues forced since the Red Storm created 22 turnovers against Fordham on Dec. 8, 2012.
- The Red Storm recorded a season-high 10 steals, the most since also recording 10 thefts on March 24, 2013 in an NIT game against Virginia.
Individual Notes
- D'Angelo Harrison scored a game-high 21 points to record his second-straight 20-point game, his fourth 20-point outing this season and the 28th 20-point effort of his career. Harrison drained a career-high 12 free throws and finished 12-of-13 from the charity stripe.
- JaKarr Sampson added 16 points to register double-figures for the fifth time this season and the 34th time in his career. Sampson shot a season-best 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from the floor and added a 6-of-8 performance at the line.
- Chris Obekpa totaled six blocks, his fifth-straight game with at least six swats. Obekpa has totaled 35 blocks in that same five-game stretch, an average of 7.0 per contest.
- Max Hooper made his first-career start and finished 2-of-4 from long range for his second-straight multi-trey performance. Hooper is shooting 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from long range in the past two games.
- Jamal Branch dished out a team-high four assists and went a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor to score seven points for the second-consecutive game. Branch is averaging 6.3 points and 3.0 assists per game in the past three contests.
