- Team Notes
- St. John's is 3-1 in its past four games against Connecticut, including three-straight wins at Madison Square Garden. The Red Storm defeated the then-No. 10/9 Huskies, 89-72, on Feb. 10, 2011 at MSG and also notched a 73-51 win on March 9, 2010 in the BIG EAST Tournament.
- St. John's improved to 4-1 this season when finishing with four players in double-figures and moved to 14-2 when shooting better than the opponent.
- St. John's held Connecticut to just 30.8 percent (20-of-65) shooting from the floor, the second-lowest percentage for the Huskies this season and the second-lowest allowed by the Red Storm on the year.
- St. John's allowed just 20 points in the first half, the third time this season that the Red Storm has held an opponent to 20 or fewer points in either half.
- The Red Storm turned the ball over just nine times, the fourth-straight game and 10th time this season with fewer than 10 turnovers. St. John's is 8-2 when committing less than 10 turnovers.
- St. John's dished out 16 assists, its highest total since recording 20 assists in an overtime loss at Villanova on Jan. 2.
Individual Notes
- Phil Greene IV reached double-figures for the fourth-straight game with a 10-point effort. Greene was also a perfect 6-for-6 from the line, setting career-highs in both free throws made and attempted. The sophomore also had six turnovers, his most since dishing out seven against Baylor on Nov. 18, with just one turnover.
- JaKarr Sampson finished with 18 points to reach double-figures for the 10th-straight game and 20th time this season.
- D'Angelo Harrison totaled 11 points to reach double-figures for the 20th time this season. Harrison added a team-best seven rebounds and is averaging 4.8 boards in the past four games.
- Chris Obekpa, who entered the game shooting 28.1 percent from the line this season, finished 2-for-3 from the stripe. Obekpa is shooting 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from the free throw line in the past three games.
- Marc-Antoine Bourgault made a career-high three 3s and finished a perfect 3-for-3 from long range. Bourgault finished with 11 points, his second-straight game in double-figures, and grabbed a career-high four rebounds.
- Felix Balamou played a career-high 11 minutes and finished with two points, his first points since Jan. 23 at Rutgers, and three rebounds.
- Christian Jones had two points and has now scored in five of his last six appearances.
