NEW YORK - Team Notes
- St. John's shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor, its ninth-straight game shooting at least 42.0 percent. The Red Storm is 8-1 in that stretch. St. John's also improved to 17-4 this season when outshooting the opposition.
- The Red Storm fired at a 76.2 percent (16-of-21) clip from the free throw line to extend its streak of shooting at least 70.0 percent from the line to six-straight games. St. John's is 6-0 in that stretch.
- St. John's finished a season-high +24 (52-28) on the glass and improved to 10-1 this season when outrebounding the opposition.
- St. John's rallied back from a 33-30 halftime deficit to improve to 4-6 when trailing at the break.
- The Red Storm held Butler to just 31.7 percent (19-of-60) shooting from the floor, a season-low for the Bulldogs.
- The 25-point win marked the second-largest margin of defeat this season for the Bulldogs.
Individual Notes
- JaKarr Sampson set a new career-high with a game-high 23 points on the night. Sampson, who had previously scored 22 points on two occasions in his career, finished 11-of-15 from the floor and added eight rebounds.
- D'Angelo Harrison scored seven points to pass D.J. Kennedy (1,504) on the all-time scoring list and move into sole possession of 12th place with 1,507 points. Harrison finished 2-of-4 from long range to notch his 14th multi-trey game of the year.
- Jamal Branch reached double-figures for the second time this season with a 10-point effort, his highest total since scoring 11 points against Seton Hall on Jan. 23. Branch dished out five assists, his most since an eight-assist performance at Butler on Jan. 25.
- Orlando Sanchez pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds, besting his previous career-high of 10 against Dartmouth on Jan. 18.
- God'sgift Achiuwa scored five points, his most since a six-point performance at Butler on Jan. 25, and added six rebounds, his most since an eight-board effort against Providence on Jan. 16.
- Marco Bourgault went 1-of-2 from long range and is shooting 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from distance this season.
