Head Coach Steve Lavin
On the team's schedule:
"Every team in the BIG EAST will deal with stretches where there are quick turnarounds or long layoffs. You can make a case for us getting the brunt of the difficult stretches right at the beginning of our conference schedule. Independent of the schedule we are improving and intent on having more breakthroughs as a team."
On what the team needs to do:
"We focus on playing St. John's basketball. That doesn't mean that along the way we can't exploit certain advantages against our opponents, but we can't get away from doing what we want to do, imposing our preferred pace on opponents."
On Chris Obekpa:
"Chris is definitely a perfectionist. It can be a great strength or an area that presents challenges. He's in a really good groove and is capable of elevating his play to an even higher level."
Junior Guard D'Angelo Harrison
On earning BIG EAST honor roll:
"We're currently on a four-out-of-five game winning streak and we want to keep it going. It's good to be recognized but I couldn't do it without my teammates."
On the win over Marquette:
"We played great basketball for 40 minutes. Coach stressed to get off to a good start and we were down early but we came right back. We have a lot of momentum heading into the next game and we're looking forward to Providence. We need to get them back."
On the difference since last playing Providence:
"It's the little things. It's all the things we can control like rebounds. One more rebound and one more shot we can make. It's good that we know we can control that and we're ready for them. They beat us, so we have to get them back."
On what the team needs:
"We need to make sure everyone is healthy and has a good attitude. We have to just keep riding what we've been riding and we're going to be ready for Providence. I think we're up for it."
